It Started with a Box of Junk Jewelry…
I grew up very close to my Nana, and spent many hours at her house as a child. One of my favorite things to do was play with her box of what she called "junk jewelry." To me, that jumble of sparkly treasures was anything but junk. I would get lost in the colors, textures, and patterns of her cast-off costume jewelry for hours. Looking back, that's where my love of jewelry began.
As I grew, my need to create took many forms — drawing, painting, sewing, building things with my hands. When it came time to choose between art school and business school, my practical side won. But my creative side never let go.
Then, after 15 years of wearing my treasured engagement ring, a prong snapped. I took the opportunity to design an entirely new setting — and in doing so, discovered the world of jewelry making. I have been obsessed ever since.
In 2015, I took my first metalsmithing class and finally found the creative outlet I was always searching for. I find inspiration everywhere — in weathered textures, aged surfaces, objects that carry history and have a story to tell. That sense of beauty earned over time is at the heart of everything I make.
"Creative work is a gift to the world and every being in it. Don't cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you've got." — Steven Pressfield
This quote was my push. KFinn Designs is the result. I'm so glad you're here.
